Rare Subaru 22B headlines RR Auctions’ June 2026 sale

RR Auctions is gearing up for its June 2026 sale, featuring a lineup of desirable performance, collector, and classic cars including everything from JDM royalty through to European exotica and Aussie muscle.

When bidding opens on Saturday June 20 and closes on Tuesday June 30, all eyes will no doubt be on the headline listing in this month’s sale – one of a mere 424 examples of the rally-bred 1998 Subaru Impreza WRX STI 22B.

Build number 107 of the original 400 Japanese market cars, this particular example shows only 47,485km on the odometer after spending the past 14 years in Australia, all with the same owner during that period.

Created to commemorate Subaru’s 40th anniversary, along with its three-straight WRC Constructors’ Championship titles from 1995-97, the 22B remains one of the rarest and most desirable Japanese cars from the era.

Also near the top of the page, you’ll find some American madness in the form of a first-generation 1995 Dodge Viper RT/10. One of the defining American performance cars of the ’90s powered by a monstrous V10 engine, this example remains in left-hand drive configuration and presents with merely 11,500 miles.

You’ll also find an extensively customised 1973 Ford Escort Mk1 that has previously featured on the cover of Street Machine magazine. Powered by the now-rare Nissan FJ20T engine, the precursor to the iconic SR20, and finished in Volkswagen Limestone Grey, this build is one that presents excellently.

As always, there’s a strong array of European exotics featured, with the contingent led by a near-new 2025 Lotus Emira First Edition.

Other Euro performance cars in the mix include a vibrant 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT finished in Solarbeam Yellow, a V10-powered 2015 Audi R8, and a manual 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo 996.

Aussie muscle also gets a strong look-in, led by a 2012 FPV GT. Equipped with the six-speed Tremec manual gearbox and displaying only 11,590km on the odometer, this is certainly one for Blue Oval collectors to watch.

The other Ford product to watch is one that may look Aussie from afar, but is actually a Falcon with a South African twist. The genuine 1971 XW Fairmont GT was assembled in Gqeberha (known as Port Elizabeth at the time) from largely Australian Ford componentry and sold locally under the Fairmont nameplate.

Adding to RR Auctions’ diversifying auction offerings is a handful of heritage number plates – collectors’ items which have surged in value over the past decade. Included in the June 2026 listings, you’ll find Queensland plates ‘Q1168’, ‘Q2818’ and ‘Q6818’. There are also two ACT plates, ‘1783’ and ‘5855’.

This jam-packed auction catalogue follows RR Auctions setting a world record price for a 1978 Pontiac Firebird featured in the classic TV series The Rockford Files. Screen-used by James Garner and provided with an array of memorabilia from his personal estate, the vehicle was sold for A$189,000 and is destined to return to the US.

Bidding is open on RR Auctions’ next timed sale from June 20-30, with lots closing from 5pm AEST. You can find the full catalogue over on the RR Auctions website.
