Sold This Week: 1992 Porsche 968

The Porsche 968 was a stunning break from tradition for the iconic German brand, packing a naturally-aspirated inline four-cylinder engine up front instead of a flat six down the back.

While it wasn’t as explosive to drive as other Porsches, the lightweight coupe had excellent handling characteristics and provided the basis for ClubSport versions that would compete in endurance races at Bathurst and around the world.

Australasian motorsport legend Jim Richards won the Australia GT Production Car series in 1995 with a Porsche 968 CS.

This lovely Cobalt Blue 1992 example is not a CS, but it is just as rare and desirable. It was originally sold in Hong Kong before being imported to Australia in 2014, selling for $42,000 on Collecting Cars.

The Porsche 968 is a stylish and exciting modern classic sports car. It has a 3.0-litre all-aluminum inline-four cylinder engine and a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

This stunner features 18-inch alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, an electric sunroof, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt stereo.

Cliff Allen Says: “The Porsche 968 is a fabulous sportscar .Perfect for daily driving, weekend fun, and classic car shows. This solid german machine is great buying. The auto gearbox and low kilometres make it a very livable classic for under $50K.”
