First Australian NISMO Performance Centre set to open in second half of 2026

Nissan’s performance arm NISMO is set to expand its presence here in Australia, with the company set to launch its first Performance Centre in the country in the second half of 2026.

Set to open at Nissan Ferntree Gully in Victoria, it will be one of the first NISMO Performance Centres to open outside of Japan, with it establishing a direct link between one of the world’s most passionate GT-R communities here in Australia and the legendary NISMO Omori Factory.

Announced yesterday by Yutaka Sanada, president and CEO of Nissan Motorsports & Customizing (NMC) and head of the NISMO brand, at a media event in Sydney Harbour, the launch of this first centre is part of a multi-phase plan to expand the brand here Down Under as part of global expansion plans.

“NISMO’s global expansion is about bringing the brand closer to customers in the right markets, with the right products, services and experiences,” Sanada-san explains.

“Australia is a natural priority because of its mature performance culture, strong GT-R community, and clear appetite for authentic NISMO heritage, performance parts, technical expertise, and motorsport-driven experiences.”

While the first of these NISMO Performance Centres is set to open in Melbourne, the company also hopes to launch centres in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Auckland. If there is enough demand, Adelaide is another potential market on the list.

Indeed, customer demand has driven most of the service. The NISMO Heritage Parts launched in 2017 with a catalogue of 80 parts for the R32 Skyline GT-R, followed up in 2018 by the launch of parts for the R33 and R34 generations. The catalogue for all three cars has continued to expand based directly off customer demand for what parts are required when restoring their vehicles.

The Heritage Parts line for these three models will form the basis for the first NISMO Performance Centre’s offerings, alongside servicing and support for owners of classic GT-R models. Support for Silvia and Z car owners is also planned as part of later expansion.

Should customers want to have mode extensive work done on their car such as a bare metal restoration or Clubman Race Spec (CRS) restomod package, the local centre can facilitate the car being sent to Omori, Japan for this work to be done.

NISMO’s global expansion plans follow the formation of NMC back in 2022 when Nissan’s motorsport arm, first launched in 1984, merged with AUTECH, its customisation subsidiary launched in 1986.
