This weekend marked the 82nd Goodwood Members’ Meeting, with the historic Goodwood Circuit playing host to a full programme of racing and track demonstrations.
First initiated in 1948 by the ninth Duke of Richmond, 71 Members’ Meetings were held between then and 1966, before the event was revived in 2014 as a more intimate, racing-focused alternative to the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival.
A total of 10 races were held at the event, with the likes of reigning British Touring Car Champion Jake Hill claiming the Gordon Spice Trophy behind the wheel of a Ford Capri III 3.0S and the newly-introduced Win Percy Trophy in a Ford Escort RS2000.

Not every driver had such a seamless track experience, however. Mark Walker may have won the first race of the S.F. Edge Trophy in an Edwardian-era Darracq 200hp, a vehicle that once set the land speed record in 1906, but in race two he and the car were involved in a horrific accident.
Walker was chasing down the race leader when he ran wide, sending the car into a spin and into the barrier. As the Darracq was in original specification, it had no seatbelts, meaning Walker was thrown from the vehicle after the crash, although he was luckily able to walk away from the incident.
While the racing was certainly action-packed, there were plenty of noteworthy on-track demonstrations for historic racing vehicles, perhaps none more famous than the Lotus 97T driven by Ayrton Senna in his very first Formula 1 win at Estoril, Portugal in 1985. His nephew, former Formula 1 driver Bruno Senna, was behind the wheel for this demonstration.
The event also featured a historic parade of 70 Alpine sports cars as part of the French brand’s 70th anniversary. The parade featured cars from the 1960s through to the ’90s, including A110, A310, GTA, and A610 models. The latest A290 electric hot hatch and A110 coupé were also included in the parade.
The Cadillac Hertz Team Jota V-Series.R also made history with the first time a World Endurance Championship Hypercar had been in action on a UK racing circuit. Although the one-tonne Cadillac’s on-track performance is somewhat comparable to a Formula 1 car, it measures in at almost five metres long, two metres wide, and packs a snarling 5.5-litre V8.
