Description

This limited edition 300 kilowatt coupe is Bentley’s ode to speed. Only 29 examples were produced solely in 1995. Welcome to the apex; the grand prize for successfully playing all the games and dominating the boardroom.

In 1995, Bentley received feedback from its customer base that wanted more from its already brutish Continental Coupe. To satiate demand, it released an extremely limited run of just 29 Continental S models. Bentley tasked engineers maestros Cosworth with redesigning its intake system complete with a water-to-air intercooler and fitting a motorsport-derived Engine Control Unit (ECU) with more accurate control.

It helped Bentley crack the 300-kilowatt mark for the first time and gave the fans just what they wanted. The Continental was already significant as the first bespoke-bodied Bentley since the 1960s and the first that didn’t have a Rolls-Royce equivalent.

Its design embodied the historic legacy of performance Bentleys, echoing its original reputation for offering swift and opulent grand tourers. Its 3.0-metre-long wheelbase sitting under a 5.3-metre hand-built body simply exudes class.

In total, the brand built just 21 right-hand drive examples alongside 18 left-hand drive models, resulting in a product run of a mere 39 copies. When you consider its rarity, opulence and quality, it’s no wonder everyone wants one in their garage.

Over the years, the mighty 6.75-litre V8 has garnered a reputation as a bit of a workhorse. There are plenty of documented examples functioning well past 300,000 km, and its old-school nature makes it relatively simple to keep on the road.

This example was one of three ordered and delivered new to Japan by its sole licensed agent, Cornes Motors. Finished in British Racing Green with a matching double-green interior, it’s likely this vehicle is a unique configuration.

This Bentley Continental S was ordered new in Japan and delivered to its Tokyo-based owner in an appropriate British Racing Green with a full green interior and burr timber.

We purchased this vehicle from a Japanese auction house where it was graded 4.0B. With a genuine 17,000 km on the clock, the vehicle is supported by a pictorial and written service history. The previous workshop provided a dossier of 54 maintenance items that were recently completed by an official Bentley dealer before the vehicle was sold.

It comes with its original owner’s manual alongside official Japanese government registration paperwork that corroborates its genuine mileage. Overall, the vehicle presents in excellent condition for its age, both inside and out. It is corrosion-free, and all electronics and functions work.

The 6.75-litre turbocharged V8 is still potent, and its GM four-speed automatic shifts crisply. The vehicle rides on its original lightweight ‘Sport’ alloy wheels.
