Ford’s track-ready Mustang Dark Horse is set to return to Australia for 2026, complete with a locally developed version created in collaboration with Triple Eight Race Engineering.
Following the initial allocation of 1000 vehicles selling out, a further 500 examples of the Dark Horse have been secured for 2026, along with a strictly limited 250 fitted with the T8-Spec Pack as seen here.
Developed to bring championship-winning DNA to the road, given Triple Eight (currently known on track as Red Bull Ampol Racing) is Supercars’ most successful team, the localised package will see each vehicle upfitted as a ‘Ford Licensed Accessory’ at Plant 2 in Broadmeadows, Victoria.
All 250 examples will come specified with a six-speed manual gearbox and finished in the new Avalanche Prestige Paint hue.

Riding on 19×10.5-inch front and 19×11-inch rear alloys wrapped in high-performance Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres, the T8-Spec Pack also adds a revised MagneRide suspension tune including adjustable top mounts alongside stiffer springs and roll bars.
A larger spoiler with a Grabber Blue gurney flap has been added at the rear to enhance aerodynamics and visual appeal. Similarly, a front aero splitter is included strictly for track use, indicating this car’s true native habitat.
Other visual upgrades include a black rear appliqué with Triple Eight branding in Grabber Blue, a black roof, Brembo brake calipers finished in Notorious Blue, and unique bonnet decals.

Inside, Recaro sports seats with Indigo bolsters feature alongside Triple Eight-branded scuff plates, a unique shift knob, and a sequentially numbered build plate for each of the 250 examples.
As with the standard Dark Horse, which already takes the Mustang GT recipe and turns everything up to 11, the T8-Spec Pack is powered by the 5.0-litre ‘Coyote’ V8 engine producing 350kW and 550Nm.
While pricing for the standard Dark Horse starts at $104,990 before on-road costs, when fitted with the T8-Spec Pack it’s priced at a rather fitting $138,888.

To only increase the exclusivity of this limited edition version, every customer who purchases a Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec Pack will be invited to an exclusive Track Experience at Queensland Raceway in the first half of 2027. There, owners will have the opportunity to engage with the Triple Eight team and learn about the full potential of this vehicle.
“All of us at Triple Eight Race Engineering are incredibly proud to be partnering with Ford, and the Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec is a fantastic way to celebrate our return to the track with the Blue Oval,” says Jamie Whincup, managing director of Triple Eight Race Engineering.
“This collaboration allows us to take our championship-winning expertise and apply it to a road-going performance icon. We are looking forward to meeting these 250 passionate customers at Queensland Raceway and showing them exactly what this vehicle is capable of in a track environment.”
