The Details:
Hailing from an era of extraordinary Japanese performance cars, this 2001 Honda Integra Type R has survived as one of the most original examples of this renowned performance car.
This particular example is an Australian-delivered model from the final year of DC2 production, as evidenced by its quad-headlight design. Although relatively plentiful in its home market of Japan, only 863 units were created for the Australian market.
Kept in the care of the seller for 17 years, the car’s original owner is known to them. As a result, this Milano Red model presents in unmodified form – a rarity for cars from this time.
Regarded by many as one of the greatest-handling front-wheel drive cars of all time, it’s powered by the iconic 141kW ‘B18C’ engine that’s able to rev as high as 8800rpm thanks to its distinctive VTEC variable valve timing system. Its double wishbone front and rear suspension also prioritised driver engagement over all else.
Work done to this example over its 214,870km lifetime has been limited to standard maintenance and minor restoration work – a testament to Honda’s well-known reliability – with receipts provided by the seller.
Aside from the bonnet which has been resprayed and a small touch-up on the rear bumper, the rest of its paintwork is original. The Integra currently rides on 15-inch ROH alloy wheels.
Inside, the care shown to this car over its lifetime is evident, with the original Recaro bucket seats and floor mats still in place. Period correct features are in place. The owner notes that the original Honda-branded six-CD changer also remains, but is not currently working.
With the fanbase, support network, and reputation the DC2 Type R has, this car makes for an attainable future classic that is ready to enjoy on the road today.
