2001 saw the return of Porsche’s 911 Turbo with a water-cooled Mezger engine for the first time. An all-new version of the Turbo, but now a 996.

If you are after a supercar that can be used as a daily driver then the Turbo makes perfect sense. Water cooling, twin turbos, and all-wheel drive transformed these cars making them equally super fast, safe, and easy to live with.

This car is fitted with Porsche’s five-speed Tiptronic transmission. These are not your average ‘dumb’ automatic gearbox, with hundreds of gearbox maps taking input from longitudinal and latitudinal sensors, throttle input, and so on to ensure it knows exactly when it is the right time to change gear. If you want to doddle about in traffic it changes smoothly and sedately; if you take it to the track and ring its neck, it will change much more aggressively. It is just a very clever system and ultra-reliable.

This car was first delivered by Porsche Centre Melbourne in March 2001, in Seal Grey Metallic and full black leather interior.
