Retro Rides’ Big Bathurst Breakfast brings a slice of Mount Panorama to Sydney

Retro Rides Big Bathurst Breakfast
Retro Rides will bring a little slice of Bathurst to Shannons’ Sydney showroom this October

Can’t make it out to Mount Panorama for this year’s 1000? Let Bathurst come to you with the inaugural Retro Rides Big Bathurst Breakfast.

Fans of Aussie motorsport are invited to join the Retro Rides team in Sydney on Saturday October 11 for the inaugural Big Bathurst Breakfast – a place to fuel your passion, celebrate the legends of Mount Panorama, and get up close and personal with a collection of genuine Bathurst-raced machines.

Featuring former Bathurst drivers Kevin Bartlett, Cameron McConville and Mal Rose as special guest speakers, each of whom campaigned at the Mountain on multiple occasions, along with a lineup of genuine Bathurst-raced machines, the event will be an action-packed celebration of the Mountain’s greatest moments.

Hosted by acclaimed motoring journalist and former Wheels columnist Michael Stahl, guests will be treated to war stories, rivalries, and behind-the-scenes tales from this trio of Bathurst legends spanning multiple eras.

All tickets include a premium buffet breakfast with barista-made coffees, as well as a gift bag packed with automotive goodies for you to take home with you. Individual round-table seating is designed to ensure everyone gets front-row access to the stories, insights, and nostalgia from this trio of great drivers.

Kevin Bartlett, also known as ‘KB’ or ‘Big Rev Kev’, needs no introduction to Aussie motorsport fans, having won the Australian Drivers’ Championship in 1968 and 1969 along with a wet and wild Bathurst 1000 in 1974 with John Goss at the wheel of a Ford Falcon GT.

KB also gained notoriety while campaigning the Channel Nine-sponsored Chevrolet Camaro Z28 between 1980 and 1983, which included a spectacular rollover on top of the Mountain in 1982.

Mal Rose’s motorsport career spans 30 years, during which he’s been there and won just about everything. This includes establishing himself as one of this country’s most successful drivers in 24-hour International Endurance events, with 13 consecutive starts at the prestigious Nürburgring 24 Hour race.

Other notable entries on Mal’s decorated racing resume include 1993 Australian Production Car Champion, 1995 Formula Ford Rookie of the year, 1998 Bathurst 1000 Privateer Champion, and 2012 Bathurst 12 Hour Class Winner.

Cameron ‘Conkers’ McConville was a stalwart of Australian touring car racing throughout the late 1990s into the early 2010s, making 21 Bathurst 1000 starts and standing on the podium six times, including a pair of second-place finishes.

Cam was the first of the wave of young drivers to take the step-up from Formula Ford to a Supercars seat and co-drive with Dick Johnson Racing at Bathurst in 1993 in a Shell Sierra.

In addition to hearing from this trio of great drivers, our display of genuine Bathurst-raced machines will provide an opportunity to get up close and personal with priceless examples of Aussie motorsport heritage, each with its own chapter in the history of the Great Race.

So why not get set for a big weekend of motorsport action and fuel your passion by joining us at the Retro Rides Big Bathurst Breakfast? It all kicks off at 8am on Saturday October 11 at Shannons’ Sydney showroom, located at 22 Lambs Road in Artarmon NSW.

Tickets are available individually for $150 per person, or why not book a table of 10 and invite your mates to get into the swing of things ahead of Bathurst Qualifying on Saturday for $1500. A portion of proceeds will be donated towards the MS Society.
