Several hammer price records have been set at the inaugural Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este auction, held on the shores of Lake Como, where more than 70 of the world’s most prestigious cars, boats, and motorbikes were up for grabs.

The first European sale held by Broad Arrow Auctions, the auction achieved a cumulative €31,172,625 in sales with 78 percent of lots sold, including three sold within hours after the auction’s conclusion.

Unquestionably the star of the show was a 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa with competition history at the Mille Miglia and Targa Florio. Quite possibly the most original early Ferrari extant, and never previously offered publicly for sale, it achieved a record sale price of €7,543,750.

Another record-setter came in the form of a modern classic, a 2003 Honda NSX-R. Finished in Championship White and with only 15,800km on the clock, it fetched €934,375 after a bidding war between interested buyers from Australia, the UK, Argentina, South Africa, and the USA.

A 1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione was another big money-winning supercar, with it fetching €2,312,500.

On the more classic side, and also breaking into seven-digit territory was the last of just 33 Motto-bodied Siata 208S Spiders, from 1954, was another highlight. With strong interest from bidders attracted by its beautiful style and remarkable provenance, it achieved a sale price of €1,750,000.

Demonstrating the diversity of vehicles on offer, a 1990 Ducati 851 F90 Corsa motorbike once owned but never ridden by John Surtees garnered a €81,250 winning bid.

With the event held in conjunction with BMW AG, Broad Arrow also held a dedicated BMW-only sale featuring cars from private collectors. Featuring some of the most collectible models from the German marque, a stunning 1980 BMW M1 enhanced to Procar specification by BMW Motorsport took the spotlight when it sold for €602,500.

“Not only did we achieve remarkable sales for some of the world’s most collectible models, but collectors were clearly excited by the carefully curated selection of cars we presented,” says Joe Twyman, VP of Sales for Broad Arrow’s EMEA Region.

“We are extremely proud to have achieved such strong results, and a number of auction record sale prices, at our first European auction, and I now look forward to expanding Broad Arrow’s European sale calendar throughout 2025.”

Broad Arrow’s next auction will be back in the US at the Monterey Jet Center in California on August 13-14, held in conjunction with Motorlux and the 2025 Monterey Car Week.
